This project was established in 2006 bya group of individuals who saw the heartbreaking reality of women trapped inabusive situations in their community. Compelled by a deep desire to love andserve these women, they knew they had to do something to help them. Through ajewelry making business, Starfish Project is able to provide women with alternativeemployment in a safe and supportive environment.
海星项目于2006年由一群关注妇女被迫从事色情行业的人士发起。源于对这个不幸群体的爱和关心，她们决定尽己所能帮助她们。通过首饰的制作项目，海星为这群不幸的妇女提供了就业的机会和支持的环境。
Women come to the project physically andemotionally abused but through love and care have begun to see themselves asworthwhile, loved and capable. They are now empowered to live a life of hope andpursue a brighter future. The jewelry making business has expanded and nowincludes housing, counseling, vocational training and health care.
在海星里得到的爱和关心让那些曾经在肉体，精神上经受痛苦的妇女重新拾得了价值感，爱和能力。她们现在活在希望中并追求更光明的明天。如今的海星项目已从简单的首饰制作延展到了心理咨询，职业培训和健康关怀。

The felt items are hand-made by women in avillage outside Kathmandu,

The rugs and carpets are also hand knottedwith different qualities depending on the type of wool, thickness of the pile,and number of knots. They use eitherAustralian or Tibetan sheep wool and some higher quality rugs and carpets aremixed with silk.
